A Day of flying, film, and family fun at the Tillsonburg airport

News Release

Woodstock, ON – The Tillsonburg Regional Airport’s COPA For Kids Flying Event and Community Movie Night will be held at the Tillsonburg Regional Airport on Saturday, June 23, 2012.

Kids aged 7 – 17 can participate in free airplane rides, provided by COPA For Kids volunteer pilots. BBQ dinner at 5pm is provided for a minimal fee and a bouncy castle will be available for the little ones. At dusk, the Community Movie Night will present “Puss In Boots” under the stars.

"This is a great opportunity for kids and teenagers to give flying a try! It’s a first for the Tillsonburg Regional Airport and we are very excited to involve our young community in this airport event”, says Tillsonburg Regional Airport’s Administrator, Annette Murray. “Hopefully we will see some future pilots in our County.”

The COPA For Kids Free Aviation Program is a motivational aviation experience, initiating young people to the science of flight. Kids will sit in the cockpit with the COPA For Kids volunteer pilot and learn about the controls, pre-flight checks, and parts of the airplane.

During the short flight, they will be shown how to takeoff, fly straight and level, and how to land. At the end of the flight, the child will be a Junior Aviator and earn a certificate demonstrating that they learned what flying is all about.

Registration for the free airplane rides are on a first come, first serve basis and starts at 9am. Parents/Guardians must be present to sign waiver.

Directions: From Hwy 401, take Hwy 19 South (towards Tillsonburg). The Tillsonburg Regional Airport is approximately 16 kms down Hwy 19 on your left. Turn left onto Airport Road at the sign for the Tillsonburg Regional Airport.
