SoundClash winners’' showcase at Harbourfront Centre’s WestJet Stage Aug. 31

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TORONTO, ON (Aug. 8, 2012) –-- The winner of the SoundClash Music Award is Chloe Charles, whose sultry, soulful style wowed audiences and judges alike. The two runners-up are reggae act Progress and the Rebel Alliance and soul-singer Gyles.

In 2011, Harbourfront Centre launched the SoundClash Music Award, a search for the cutting-edge musical talent bubbling just under Toronto’s surface. This year’s SoundClash Festival provided an opportunity for audiences to experience all of the 6 shortlisted artists and help determine the winners.

Now, the votes are in, and the winners – of cash and prizes totalling more than $10,000 and a slot on the big stage – have been decided. Both our secret panel of judges, comprised of musical tastemakers from across disciplines and the musical spectrum, and audiences were able to contribute to the voting process.

Join us on Friday, Aug. 31 as we celebrate the next generation of musical talents bubbling under the surface of Toronto’s music scene with the SoundClash Winners’ Showcase. The concert, featuring Chloe Charles and Progress and the Rebel Alliance, begins at 8 p.m. on the WestJet Stage and admission is FREE.
