International Festival of Authors is returning to Woodstock

Woodstock, ON – Four contemporary authors will read from their books during the International Festival of Authors.

It is being presented in partnership with the Woodstock Public Library, Merrifield Book Shop, Authors at Harbourfront Centre, and Lit on Tour on October 17th at the Knox Presbyterian Church at 7:30pm, followed by a reception in the library rotunda.

During the reception, event attendees can mingle with the authors while enjoying local wines and foods. The four featured authors are Tanis Rideout, Kjersti A. Skomsvold, Cordelia Strube, and Linda Spalding.


“The response of the community to the 2011 International Festival of Authors Ontario illustrates that there is no substitute for hearing authors read from their works,” said Woodstock Library CEO, Gary Baumbach.

“The 2012 Festival promises to be just as engaging as we welcome four world-class authors to the Woodstock Public Library for an evening of readings and discussions that will celebrate the craft of writing.”
Tanis Rideout will be reading from her debut novel, a historical fiction titled Above All Things, which is based on George Mallory’s 1924 attempt at being the first man to climb Mt. Everest. Kjersti A. Skomsvold’s novel, The Faster I Walk, The Smaller I Am, focuses on a woman’s struggle with her identity as she ages. Cordelia Strube’s novel, Milosz, tells the story of an out-of-work actor, down on his luck, who befriends the 11 year old autistic boy next door. Linda Spalding will read from her latest novel, The Purchase, about a young Quaker father and widower who leaves his home in Pennsylvania to start a new life. The Purchase has just been nominated for the Governer General’s Literary Award for fiction.
