HORSESHOE RESORT SET TO OPEN 50TH SKI SEASON THIS WEEKEND
BARRIE, ONTARIO, November 29, 2012 – Horseshoe, a Skyline Resort in Barrie, Ontario is kicking off their 50th
ski season this weekend with an unexpected early opening this Saturday,
December 1. Two ski runs, Ponytail and Steeplechase, will be open along
with 15 km of groomed Nordic trails and 10 km of snowshoe trails.
“Mother
Nature has been kind and the conditions have been better than expected
for snowmaking, so we’re excited to welcome our ski season guests a bit
earlier this year at Horseshoe,” says Sean Billing, General Manager. “We
have lots in store to commemorate our 50th anniversary and this is an ideal start. We look forward to making this year the best ski season yet!”
Horseshoe Resort has announce several ski and snowboard packages appealing to the both beginners and experts on the slopes. The Discover Ski & Boarding
package starts from $249/night and includes everything first-time
skiers need: accommodations, breakfast, one alpine lift ticket, ski or
snowboard rentals and a 1 ½ hour group lesson.
More advanced skiers and snowboarders can take advantage of the Ski & Stay
special which includes accommodations, breakfast and a lift ticket from
$129/night. New this season, lift tickets will be valid on the day of
check-in through the day of check-out, giving guests extra hours on the
hill.
The resort, which first
opened as Horseshoe Valley Ski Club in 1962, will pay tribute to the
founders, employees, guests and visitors who have been a part of its
incredible history with a series of events over the course of the
season. More announcements are to come.
Set
on nearly 700 acres, Horseshoe Resort provides much more than a typical
ski and snowboard experience. In addition to 27 alpine runs, the resort
offers 40 km of groomed Nordic trails, snowshoeing, snow tubing, sleigh
rides, snowmobiling, delectable dining, an indoor pool and the
full-service Shizen Spa. In the past year, The Inn at Horseshoe has refreshed its rooms with new décor, carpeting and furniture.
