Ringing in the New Year at Queen Victoria Park in Niagara Falls

Special Guest Performers: Dragonette, Hedley and Nelly Furtado

Niagara Falls, ON – The Niagara Parks Commission (NPC), Entertainment Tonight (ET) Canada and Niagara Falls New Year's Eve event partners are pleased to announce an exciting roster of musical talent for Canada’s largest televised live New Year's Eve celebration. This highly anticipated free show begins at 7:30 p.m. in Queen Victoria Park overlooking mighty Niagara Falls.

Electro-pop trio Dragonette will take the stage, followed by a high-energy performance by multiple JUNO Award-winning Vancouver rock group Hedley. Chart-topping GRAMMY® Award winner Nelly Furtado will keep the crowd dancing as the clock ticks down to midnight. The performers, along with the hosts, will gather onstage to countdown to 2013.

Come and celebrate with us and enjoy two spectacular fireworks displays planned for approximately 8:45 p.m. and midnight. This year’s displays will be bigger than ever, featuring 2,000 pounds of fireworks launched from the Skylon Tower, down in the Niagara Gorge, and for the first time, directly above the Falls themselves!

The outdoor celebration also features a variety of food and beverage vendors, as well as an outdoor licensed area. As always, the presence of security and policing will be on-site to ensure everyone’s safety throughout the night.

“Niagara Parks will once again be the place to be on New Year’s Eve,” said NPC Chair Janice Thomson. “Our thanks go to our community stakeholders and partners for their continued support of this great event. It really is exciting to see the whole community join in celebrating this special night in such a landmark location.”

"People are already talking about this year's party with ET Canada," said Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati.  "We're thrilled that the rest of the country can join us, as Canada's biggest party is about to get bigger."

For those who prefer to celebrate at home, ET Canada will go live from Niagara Falls during its regular timeslot at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on Global, featuring exclusive interviews with the performers, and to take viewers behind-the-scenes at the concert venue. The two-hour coast-to-coast live television broadcast countdown will then begin at 10 p.m. ET/PT, hosted by ET’s Cheryl Hickey, Matte Babel and Rosey Edeh.

"Year after year, ET Canada's celebration continues to grow as Canadians flock to Niagara Falls to be part of the action," said Barb Williams, SVP of Content, Shaw Media. "With a stellar musical line-up and spectacles to match, ET Canada knows how to throw a party that will have people talking well into the New Year."

Last year’s New Year’s Eve broadcast on Global peaked at 12:01 a.m. with 1.9 million viewers with a total reach of 4.8 million (2+ national) tuning in, while the annual event itself attracted over 60,000 people to Queen Victoria Park.
