The Midland Painted turtle is Ontario's most common turtle species, and can be found in wetlands right here in the Toronto area! Did you know the male Midland Painted turtle has long front claws that he uses to stroke the females cheeks to show his interest in mating? Female Painted turtles love a guy with a good manicure! Be sure to visit the Midland Painted turtle and our other shelled friends inside the America's pavilion this weekend for World Wetlands Day!
