OTTAWA, MAY 9, 2013 – Organizers of the 20th annual Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival announced
today the Born Ruffians, fresh off the release of their buzz worthy new
album Birthmarks, will headline the free festivities on Saturday, June
22.
Featured on the cover of Exclaim! Magazine’s current issue the Ontario based four piece comprised
of Luke Lalonde (guitar/vocals), Mitch Derosier (bass), Andy Lloyd
(guitar/keyboard) and Steven Hamelin (drums) will be making their first
appearance at the festival. “We are thrilled to be able to present fans
with an opportunity to enjoy a free concert from such an exciting
Canadian band,” says Festival CEO John Brooman.
Another
act that will be visiting the festival this summer will be Vancouver’s
The Matinée. Compared by music journalist and author Richard Wagamese to The Civil Wars, Fleet Foxes, Tom Petty and Neil Young, it isn’t hard to imagine why The Matinée
recently landed on MSN Entertainments list of “15 Canadian Acts You
Should Know” alongside the likes of Tegan and Sara, The Sheepdogs, and
Feist.
Also
performing at the Festival are the sweet harmonies and nostalgic
melodies of Toronto roots and folk rockers The Treasures, who recently
charmed audiences at Canadian Music Week.
As
previously announced The Sam Roberts Band will headline the Festival
which runs June 20 -23 in Ottawa’s beautiful Mooney’s Bay Park. Other
artist performing include Great Lake Swimmers, The Balconies, Autumns
Cannon, Kalle Mattson, Sam Cash and the Romantic Dogs, Devin Cuddy and
The Joynt.
A
few final acts will be announced in the very near future to complete
what will be the most exciting free concert line-up in the now 20 year
history of the largest dragon boat festival in North America.

Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival is a not-for-profit event
founded in 1993. The organization held it’s first inaugural festival in
1994 as a small half-day event that is now a multi-day celebration of
