Harbourfront Centre presents Classical V: Brass July 26 to 28

How do you blow your horn?

TORONTO, ON -- Back for its fifth installment, Harbourfront Centre presents Classical V: Brass from July 26 through 28.

This festival explores diverse manifestations of classical music from across the globe and cultural perspectives on the genre, whether it’s African soul, Indian celebratory bands, Chicago funk or traditional brass bands.

The festival aims to push boundaries on what people think classical music is and how it is defined through specially programmed workshops, musical performances and films.

Classical V: Brass focuses on brass instruments, where the musician uses only the shape of the instrument, their skill and the breath they produce to create beautiful music.
Highlights of Classical V: Brass include:

• Musical performances by artists such as Genghis Barbie, Hannaford Street Silver Band, Jaipur Kawa Brass Band, Alison Melville, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and Viva Mexico Mariachi;
• Activities for the whole family including musical instrument inspired crafts and the hilarious genius of Al Simmons and his tuba;
• Award-winning films including Tubby the Tuba and Brassed Off;
• A Big Boat Blast where patrons are invited to blow their horns with all of the boats in the harbour;
• And much more!
