The Elora Tarot Project comes to the Wellington County Museum and Archives

(News Release)

ABOYNE – Mark your calendars to visit the Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) to view an extraordinary collaborative art exhibition: The Elora Tarot Project. This exhibit opens September 13 and runs until November 3.

A tarot card deck created by 65 local artists, the project is the brainchild of coordinator Shelley Carter, a local tarot reader and enthusiast, who developed the idea of a unique ‘made in Elora’ deck. Each artist has
selected one or two cards, from a traditional 78-card tarot deck, to interpret in their own style and medium.
Each stands on its own as individual piece of artwork, but the collaborative results of the project are
stunning in their imagery and design.

Ms. Carter’s interest in tarot and her support of the local artistic community has found common ground in this year-long venture, “I am fascinated by the 600-year history of Tarot. I recently returned from a European Tarot conference and was inspired to bring more Tarots to the community.

I love the work of our local artists and have enjoyed supporting and promoting their work. This seemed like an ideal project to highlight their skills.”

In addition, the images have been reproduced as Elora Tarot Project decks and will be available for purchase at the Wellington County Museum and Archives.

Please join us on Friday, September 13, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm for the artist’s reception at Wellington County Museum and Archives, located on Wellington Road 18 between Fergus and Elora.

The galleries are open weekdays from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm and 12:00 to 4:00 pm on weekends and holidays.
