Rant Maggie Rant announces tour dates for 2013 Frost & Fire: A Celtic Christmas Celebration

Rant Maggie Rant: Barry James Payne, Lindsay Schindler and Glen Dias
STRATFORD, ON – After the successful independent release of Rant Maggie Rant’s (RMR) third CD this fall, the band is preparing to embark on their 5th annual Frost & Fire tour, which kicks off November 28 in the idyllic rural hamlet of Utopia, near Barrie, Ontario.

RMR began hosting their Frost & Fire: A Celtic Christmas Celebration Tour four years ago. It didn’t take long for both the musicians and their fans to realize how much the holiday season was becoming an inspiring tradition for them all.

“Now, the holiday season doesn’t seem like it’s here, unless we share it with our fans and friends that have grown with us throughout the years,” says the band’s fiddler Lindsay Schindler, who leads the ensemble.

Concert-goers will be treated to a sound as lovely as the hushed winter landscape and as rollicking as a team of horses running away with the sleigh. The concert repertoire includes traditional Christmas carols, traditional Celtic tunes, with a couple of fun surprises, as well as some spirit-raising and dance-inducing instrumentals, perfect for the Christmas night kitchen party.

The “oh so talented” Rant Maggie Rant took home hardware at the 2013 Jack Richardson Music Awards gala on April 14, 2013. The band received a Jack Richardson Music Award in the Traditional Folk/Roots category. The awards recognize musical excellence in the City of London, Ontario.

The band made significant inroads on their 2013 touring schedule, performing throughout Newfoundland. Last year, the band also performed on Canada’s west coast and south of the border in Chicago and Saline and Kalamazoo, Michigan.
A joyful melting pot of sound, Rant Maggie Rant is loved by traditionalists, who enjoy their time-honoured style, while new Celtic music listeners are drawn to the band's fusion of World influences of hand drumming and Latin, Middle Eastern and African rhythms.
