Barrie's Horseshoe Resort gears up for the ski season

NEW MAGIC CARPET LIFT AND ONLINE STORE
Opening day to include unveiling of Kimble’s Karpet and special deal in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters

BARRIE, ONTARIO – Winter is coming and Horseshoe, a Skyline Resort is prepared.

This year, the resort has added an 800 ft. magic carpet lift, aptly named Kimble’s Karpet after Martin Kimble a former and long-standing Horseshoe staff member.

Kimble’s Karpet will enhance the experience of beginner skiers and snowboarders, making the hill more accessible. Along with the addition of an online store for purchasing passes and packages, rediscovering winter at Horseshoe has never been easier.

“Kimble’s Karpet is the perfect addition to our hill and we’re thrilled to honour Martin by naming the lift after him,” says general manager Sean Billing. “We’re constantly improving on the experience of beginners at Horseshoe; Martin made that the focus of much of his career and our newest addition will help reduce wait times and enhance the learning experience for new skiers.”

Martin Kimble spent 25 years at Horseshoe Resort, retiring on June 27. Throughout his career, Kimble was always a dedicated and passionate advocate for introducing young people to skiing through his work at Horseshoe and as a board member of Ontario Snow Resorts Association. He spearheaded the project to bring in a carpet lift to Horseshoe and stayed on after his retirement to ensure its installation ran smoothly.

Horseshoe anticipates opening on December 7, and in partnership with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Orillia and District (BBBS), will host an opening day ribbon cutting ceremony for Kimble’s Karpet. With a $10 donation to BBBS, guests will receive a lift ticket for Kimble’s Karpet, group lesson and free ski or snowboard rental. Guests purchasing a full access lift ticket have the option to donate $10 of the cost to BBBS.

The start of this ski season also marks the launch of Horseshoe’s online store, where visitors can buy season passes, lift tickets and even book lessons with the resort’s new Horseshoe MultiSport Academy. The new system has a user friendly interface that allows guests to bypass the lines and get up the hill faster.

With plenty of pass options available to suit the needs of every ski, snowboard and Nordic enthusiast, Horseshoe has something for everyone. Triple Play Passes are perfect for the ski or snowboarder who knows they’ll hit the slopes a few times this season and make a perfect holiday gift for just $119.

Beginner skiers need look no further than the “Discover Ski and Snowboarding” package, which includes accommodation, breakfast, downhill lift ticket, ski or snowboard rental and an hour and a half lesson with one of Horseshoe’s certified instructors. Starting from $289/night it’s easy to rediscover winter with Horseshoe.
