Giant Panda Zoo Awards 2013 have officially released the list of nominees and the 

Toronto Zoo has been nominated for FOUR categories! The online voting begins 

today and voting will stay open for one month.

Giant Panda Zoo Awards are a great opportunity to raise greater awareness for

 important giant panda conservation work around the world.

Many different zoos, pandas and people are shortlisted in 10 Award Categories. 

People from around the world will get a chance to vote for their favorite pandas,

 people and zoos.

Toronto Zoo received FOUR nominations for the Giant Panda Zoo Awards 2013:

1) Favorite Panda Outside of China: Da Mao

2) Panda Personality of the Year "The Human": Our very own Maria Franke, 

Curator of Mammals!

3) Favorite Panda Enclosure: Toronto Zoo (including the magnificent Panda Interpretive Centre)

4) Panda Moment of the Year: The FedEx Panda Express brings Er Shun & 

Da Mao to Canada

Last year the Giant Panda Awards received around 28,000 votes during the first 

edition in 2012. People from exactly 130 countries were registered (Most voters

 came from 13 panda countries, United States, United Kingdom, Thailand, France,

 Singapore, Austria, Canada, Japan, Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, Spain & China,

 followed by Belgium and the Netherlands)
