Visit Crawford Lake's reconstructed Iroquoian Village and learn how maple syrup was discovered and used by Ontario’s First Peoples as you take in an interactive Sweet Water demo. Nostalgia is served warm and gooey in the afternoon as staff demonstrates how to make taffy on snow. Sample a variety of syrup grades to determine your maple syrup personality before you pick up a litre (or two!) to take home from the gift shop. Round out the experience with maple themed crafts and discovery hunts for kids.

Explore the 150 year old Mountsberg Sugar Bush to see historical and modern methods of tapping, collecting and boiling sap to make syrup. Take in a maple candy making session (and sample!), or travel on a horse-drawn ride through the bush.  Stop at the Pancake Pavilion for a plate of flap jacks and sausage covered in pure maple syrup.
The Mountsberg Raptor Centre will be presenting live bird of prey shows at 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm & 3pm. The Cameron Farm Yard will also be in full maple season glory with baby farm animals and the ever popular play barn. Maple Town brings to life a real Canadian tradition.

A modern maple syrup operation, pancake meals, taffy on snow & maple products.  Sit a spell at our fires, listen to native stories, dance with our fiddlers, use a hand drills to tap trees, saw like a lumberjack, have your face painted, see what bird you are, eat yummy taffy, roast a hot dog, get lost in the maze, cross a rickety bridge, and if you are not careful you may learn a little somethin’ maple before you get the shuttle back to the farm

Maple First Taste of Spring:  Essex County's only Maple Syrup Festival! Make maple taffy in the snow and see syrup made the pioneer way. Inside the modern visitor centre discover the science of the maple tree. Children and adults can try a brace and bit, carry pails of sap using an old-fashioned yoke, make a maple craft to take home and twist their own maple taffy on the snow.
Maple March Break for Families:  Tour the site with a costumed guide, discover the sweet process of maple syrup and sugar making in the pioneer method. Learn the history of this sweet springtime treat as you help to make and taste maple sugar.

Enjoy a pancake breakfast then take a self-guided walking tour in our Woodlot where you can see the actual sap lines, learn how the sap is collected from the tree and then to the evaporator.  From there, visit the Sugar Shanty where you will see the evaporating & finishing process.
