Recreational events lined up for Saturday in Orillia, Ontario

ORILLIA, Ontario -- Two exciting recreational events are slated to take place this Saturday at City of Orillia parks and facilities.

Orillia Parks, Recreation and Culture is teaming up with local organizations such as the O.P.P. Marine Unit, Lifesaving Society, Simcoe County District Health Unit and the Canadian Cancer Society for the fourth annual carnival themed Water Smart Day on June 21, 2014.


The event is designed to educate the community about drowning prevention and promote water safety in a fun atmosphere.



Guests will enjoy water smart games, cool prizes, face painting, water balloon challenges, lifeguard demonstrations and a free ‘Swim to Survive’ lesson.

Everyone is invited to attend this fun and interactive event this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to the event is free and will take place at Couchiching Beach.


The Camp for a Day event will also take place this Saturday at Rotary Place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
As day camp season is right around the corner, the event allows participants to get a feel for various camps available through the City recreation program and decide which one is right for them


Those between the ages of 6 and 12 are encouraged to attend for a fun-filled day of camp adventures. Participants will be able to try rock climbing, new games, and compete in the Extreme Camp Challenge 2014.


Participants must pre-register for the Camp for a Day event with Parks, Recreation and Culture.
