Hot town, summer in
the (big) city.
Toronto is bursting
with activities and a summer escape here “offers experiences you won’t find
anywhere else,” said Vanessa Somarriba of Tourism Toronto.
To help plan that
getaway, she suggests the following attractions, events and performances.
Zip through the zoo
- Toronto Zoo’s
latest attraction opening this summer is Tundra Air, a zipline ride that soars
over the Tundra Trek, giving views of animals including Arctic wolves, polar
bears and caribou.
Don’t forget to visit Humphrey, the polar bear
cub, and Er Shun and Da Mao, the Chinese pandas. torontozoo.com

| Ripley’s Aquarium |
- Ripley’s Aquarium
beside the CN Tower is Canada’s largest indoor facility of its kind with 15,000
aquatic animals and a huge underwater viewing tunnel. There are some 100
interactive opportunities including three touch pools with horseshoe crabs,

- CN Tower’s
EdgeWalk is for those wanting to live life on the edge or ledge hanging off at
the top. There’s also the glass floor, outdoor SkyTerrace, Himalamazon, a

- The Ontario
Science Centre explores the Science of Rock ‘n’ Roll in an interactive
exhibition that provides a fresh look at the history of rock from the

- Legoland
Discovery Centre lets visitors create, explore 4-D cinema, experience three-million
bricks and see Toronto’s iconic attractions made out of Lego. legolanddiscoverycentre.ca/toronto
- The Art Gallery
of Ontario features some 130 works of Francis Bacon and Henry Moore, two giants
of 20th-century British art. From Aug. 23, there will be about 100 works by the
late Toronto-born artist Alex Colville. ago.net
- The Royal Ontario
Museum features the Forbidden City with national treasures from Beijing's

returns to Toronto with KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities, opening Aug. 28.
It leaves the

at the Redpath Waterfront Festival from June 20 to 22 with the Flyboard North

Eat, dance, groove
- Summerlicious,
July 4 to 20, offers diners an opportunity to explore the city’s variety of
cuisine with three-course prix fixe menus at 200 top restaurants, cooking

- Caribbean
Carnival (formerly Caribana), a festival of music, cuisine and visual and

- TD Toronto Jazz

- Digital Dreams, June 28 and 29, is an

Need to know
Get around on the
Toronto Transit Commission’s subways, streetcars and buses (ttc.ca) and
see the sites with the Toronto CityPass that provides discount admission to
five top attractions (citypass.com/toronto).
