Summer has arrived at Ontario Parks (2018)

Go fishing at Ontario Parks
Come celebrate Family Fishing Week at Ontario Parks. Canadian residents are able to fish without a license from June 30 to July 8. There is no better time to introduce family and friends to fishing. Cast a line, and join the festivities.
Learn to Fish has opened its ninth location at Balsam Lake Provincial Park. Learn to Fish introduces kids, teens, and adults to fishing through engaging 2-hour sessions. Participants are supplied with licenses for the day, fishing rods, safety equipment, bait, tackle, and an instructor.
New telescope at Killarney Provincial Park
Ontario Parks is excited to announce the arrival of a new 16” research grade telescope at Killarney Provincial Park. The telescope allows expert and amateur astronomers to study the science and beauty of the night skies. Visitors are invited to experience the new telescope, and take part in astronomy programming at parks across the province.

Killarney Provincial Park’s Stars Over Killarney event takes place on September 22. Participants will view planets and other astronomical objects through powerful telescopes and binoculars. Join us to learn more about astronomy at Ontario Parks.
Picnic in the Park
Ontario Parks is pleased to announce the return of Picnic in the Park. In partnership with Foodland, families who purchase a ‘Picnic in the Park’ meal deal at Foodland grocery stores will receive a complimentary day pass to any provincial park.
Upcoming Events
Ontario Parks is happy to announce a province-wide concert tour this summer featuring the Wakami Wailers. The Wakami Wailers will be performing songs from their new album ‘Un, Deux, Trois…Four,’ and many of their old favourites.
Tour the Silver Queen Mine at Murphy’s Point Provincial Park on July 4. Visitors will take part in a nature night hike and learn about the restored, early 1900’s mica mine. All participants will be provided with hardhats.
Quetico Provincial Park is hosting Powerful Planet with Science North on July 5. Participants will watch an exciting live show on the wonders of weather and climate. All ages are welcome.
Bonnechere Provincial Park’s Art in the Park takes place on July 7. Campers and day-use visitors can participate in free drawing sessions with local artist Kim Hanewich.
Did you know?
Ontario Parks is celebrating 125 years of history and milestones with a province-wide travelling exhibit. Visitors can view historical images, natural history specimens, vintage camping equipment, research equipment, and more. Follow the exhibit as it moves across the province in 2018.
