Ho, ho, ho, Santa's soon got to go!

   One-Tank Trip for Dec. 15/18

Santa and Mrs. Claus are about to wind up their 2018 tour that continues to draw huge crowds across the land.
Like the “rock stars” they are, the dynamic duo will still be making a few appearances before the real work begins in advance of Dec. 25.
But, there’s still time for kids to get their last-minute requests to Santa in person.

Santa has had fun riding the rails, visiting with his fans and appearing in hundreds of parades in every city and town.
In fact, the veteran of parades still has three left this weekend in Ontario: Burgessville, St. George and Woodville, all night-time spectacles tonight (Dec. 15).

    All aboard
There’s still time to catch up with the jolly gent on the rails – the Santa Treats train on the Port Stanley Terminal Rail.

They run on weekends through Dec. 23 at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. (the Dec. 15, 11 a.m. train is now sold out).
“Enjoy a ride through Elgin County in early winter from the warmth of a heated car,” said rail president Dan Vernackt.
“Santa has treats for the kids and their anticipation grows as we near our destination to meet him,” he added.
All aboard as the train departs and returns to the Port Stanley station (309 Bridge St.) by the King George Lift Bridge. It costs $15, adults; $9, children ages two to 14. pstr.on.ca; 1-877-244-4478

Other popular rides are pretty well booked for the remaining dates, so book early next year for the South Simcoe Railway’s Santa Claus Express and Waterloo Central Railway’s Santa Train.

   Packing up
The elves are hard at work at Santa’s Village housed at the Ingersoll Ontario Cheese & Agricultural Museum (290 Harris St.) but it’s almost time to go.
Sneak a peek at the village and come and see what ol’ Kris Kringle and his elves have been working on,” said coordinator Andrea Roulston.

It’s open Fridays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Dec. 22, with the theme this year “Christmas Around the World.”
Along with Santa visits, the special event tonight (Dec. 15) is magic with Steve Seguin and on Dec. 21 and 22, the “Crazy Zany Holiday Show.” ingersoll.ca/cheesemuseum; (519) 485-5510

   Christmas down on the farm
There’ an “old-fashioned” Christmas at Snyder’s Farm in Bright (936685 Blenheim Rd.) continuing today and tomorrow (Dec. 15 and 16) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

   Magic times
Some “holiday magic” is happening at the Royal Botanical Gardens (680 Plains Rd. W., Burlington) through Jan. 6.
There are “performances, Santa experiences, exhibits and more this holiday season.”
Known as RBG Holiday Traditions, getting ready to leave town are the happy couple after Santa visits and storytelling with Mrs. Claus.
Enjoying a visit with the old-fashioned Santa at the Royal Botanical Gardens.
Santa holds court for a final time on Wednesday (Dec. 19) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
There are also special light displays at the Rock Garden and the Botanical Train Display with famous Canadian landmarks made of cedar slabs and other natural materials.
While visiting the RBG Centre, explore the outdoors and take a winter walk.
Train rides are also available to Santa’s cabin for $4; $2 for children 12 and younger. rbg.ca/holidaytraditions; 1-800-694-4769
