Orillia Events and Festivals

Summer Block Party July 27 - A downtown summer street festival like no other! Showcasing a fusion of art, fun interactive activities, music, food, kid zones, sizzling sales & giveaways.

Pirate Party – Aug 31 – Sept 1 - Join us at the Port of Orillia on the Labour Day Weekend for this fun-filled annual event, featuring live music, entertainment and a treasure hunt through Downtown Orillia. Prizes awarded for the Best Pirate Boat and Best Pirate Crew! Landlubbers in pirate garb expected!

Mariposa Folk Festival - Check out Showcase winning acts, spoken word performances & kids’ activities. For more than 50 years, Mariposa has been presenting world class creators and performers of folk, roots, blues, gospel, acoustic and world music traditions in a beautiful, family-friendly setting. Orillia’s largest festival is once again featuring the Downtown Stage & Story Stage!

There will be many activities and events going on throughout the weekend! These activities include:

– yoga in the park
– the Gordon Lightfoot Trail runs through Tudhope Park, a great way to experience the scenery and area!

Car Shows

Orillia Classic Car Show – August 17 - A jaw-dropping collection of over 400 classic cars line the Downtown streets! Enjoy live entertainment, great dining, shopping and the largest car show in the region!

Ramara Classic Show – July 13 - Last year we had over 140 classic & performance vehicles show up to the Brechin Dry Dock Marine in Lagoon City to show off their vintage, classic, modified, and imported vehicles to the public! This year, visitors will once again be able to enjoy a fresh BBQ courtesy of the Brechin Legion, participate in fun prize raffles, visit our expansive Vendor’s Market, play lawn games, and enter in multiple competitions!

Burl’s Creek Concerts
The Rolling Stones – June 29

Bring their hugely successful ‘No Filter’ tour to Burl’s Creek Event Grounds in Oro-Medonte this Canada Day weekend on Saturday June 29th for ‘Canada Rocks with The Rolling Stones.’  Burl’s Creek will be the final stop on the North American leg of the ‘No Filter’ tour and the only Canadian show for The Stones.

The ‘No Filter’ tour has amassed rave reviews for Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood as they played to sold out stadiums throughout the UK and Europe last year and Republic Live is expecting no less for ‘Canada Rocks with the Rolling Stones’ at Burl’s Creek. The set list has the iconic group treating generations of fans to classic Stones hits including “Sympathy For The Devil,” “Paint It Black,” “Brown Sugar,” “Miss You,” in addition to special gems from their celebrated catalog.

Big Sky Music Festival July 20
Singalong to Alabama, Travis Tritt, Diamond Rio & more at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds, in Oro-Medonte on Saturday, July 20th. We’re taking it back to the good ol’ days with a classic car show, camping, and craft market the whole family will enjoy. It’s back to the classics at the Big Sky Festival

Boots and Hearts August 8-11,
Boots and Hearts is an annual country and camping music festival event produced by Republic Live. Held at the custom designed camping and festival grounds at Burl’s Creek, the festival will take place 2019. Boots and Hearts is the recipient of the CCMA (Canadian Country Music Association) Festival of the Year Award in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 and Canadian Music Week 2015 Festival of the Year.

Boots and Hearts is the largest camping and country music festival of its kind ever to be hosted on Canadian soil. It is a four-day celebration of country music where music lovers of all genres can escape from the rigors of daily life, band together with thousands of other country music fans and experience a once-in-a-lifetime event that they will never forget.

Provincial Parks

BASS LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK

This provincial park is our largest park and a popular location for families and friends due to its facilities and activities available. Bass Lake offers a 2.8km hiking trail (which is paved and bicycle friendly), camping sites, watercraft rentals (kayaks, paddle boats, canoes) and a beautiful sandy beach. Not to mention this park is within a five-minute drive of Orillia’s restaurants, shopping centers, and a movie theatre if you need to escape the mosquitoes for a little bit. There is a lot you can do at Bass Lake and we recommend you visit this park at least once this summer.

MARA PROVINCIAL PARK

Our second provincial park on the list is Mara Provincial Park. Mara is the smallest of the three parks within Ontario’s Lake Country and has a fascinating history. For over 4,000 years the indigenous inhabitants built weirs to harvest fish teeming in the narrows here between Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe. Mara doesn’t offer quite as much facilities and activities but there still is quite a lot to do and fun to have. Mara’s primary attraction is its wide sandy beach by Lake Simcoe which you can swim, fish and boat from. Additionally, Mara offers a .5km nature trail and a variety of campsites.

MCRAE POINT PROVINCIAL PARK

This small peninsula on Lake Simcoe is an ideal summer playground for the whole family. McRae Point Provincial Park offers many activities such as swimming, fishing and boating in its calm waters. The 1.2 km Water’s Edge Trail is a memorable experience as it passes through numerous ecosystems and the point at the end of the trail awards visitors with magnificent sunsets over Lake Simcoe. If you are looking for a relaxing park surrounded by water McRae Point is for you.

Rama Pow Wow August 24 and 25th.

All are welcome at the 33rd Annual Rama Powwow on August 23-25, 2019 at the John Snake Memorial Multipurpose Grounds in Rama, Ontario, Canada. Witness some of Turtle Island’s finest World-Class singers and powwow dancers as they compete against one another in this competition powwow which has become one of the biggest and best powwows in Ontario. Dozens of vendors (food, arts, and crafts).
