Rare Piece of Canadian Music Memorabilia to be Auctioned Off for Charity
Stompin’ Tom to offer legendary Stompin’ Board at Canada Day concert
Peterborough, ON (Sunday, June 26, 2011) - Canada’s iconic troubadour – Stompin’ Tom Connors, has agreed to allow his famous Stompin’ Board be auctioned off to assist the Orillia and Area’s, “Key Program.” Despite his 45 years in the music business, this auction will mark only the fifth time that the legendary boards have been available to Canadian fans.
Following his Canada Day (July 1st), performance at Casino Rama, the beloved entertainer, who has just celebrated his 75th birthday and has had his own postage stamp released, will hand over his most famous stage accessory, his Stompin’ Board.
The Board, having been used on countless stages over Stompin’ Tom’s last two (2) tours, will then be auctioned off to raise money for the “Key Program”, which aids the homeless and those at high risk of becoming homeless in and around the Orillia area.

The Key Program is a Mental Health and Homelessness Initiative established to improve the quality of life for adults, living with serious mental health problems who are homeless or at high risk of becoming homeless by assisting them in accessing and maintaining safe, affordable and satisfactory housing.
Only four of the famous Stompin’ Boards have ever been put on the auction block, the last one being a decade ago – each board having earned well over $10,000 for the charitable organization involved. Previous Stompin’ Tom boards were auctioned off in support of The Daily Bread Food Bank, Project Warmth and for Habitat for Humanity.
Fans and collector alike are invited to participate in the auction on Friday, July 1st inside the Casino Rama Entertainment Centre. The auction will take place immediately following the show, and those without tickets that wish to attend should contact Jenna Hunter, Casino Rama. Fans who are unable to travel to the auction but wish to submit a bid by proxy are to contact Brian Edwards, Rockland Entertainment for further instruction on the process. Stompin’ Tom will autograph the board and pose for pictures with the winner after the auction.
