Doors Open Ontario events continuing into fall

More than half of this year’s Doors Open Ontario events are taking place this fall – many commemorating the theme of this year’s program, “Defending a nation”.

Ontario’s architectural showpieces, community landmarks and natural wonders are waiting to be explored – all free of charge.

Four of this year’s five new events are scheduled for September: Quinte West, Algonquin Highlands, Halton Hills and Lambton County.

The Doors Open Ontario 2012 program represents hundreds of communities and thousands of individual heritage sites. When events conclude in October, the program will have generated more than 4.5 million visits to 5,000 sites across the province since it began in 2002. Out-of-town visitors will have spent an estimated $23 million in Ontario’s communities.
