International Festival of Authors set for Oct. 24-Nov. 3 in Toronto

TORONTO, September 10, 2013 As a special offer to its Patrons and Supporters, IFOA is extending a pre-sale option for all ticketed Festival events.

As of today at 1pm, Patrons have the opportunity to obtain one free ticket to any event and to purchase additional tickets at the Supporter ticket price before tickets go on sale to the general public on September 17, 2013. Supporters have access to one ticket per event at the discounted Supporter price.

The International Festival of Authors, which runs from October 24 to November 3, 2013 and is celebrating its 34th year, is delighted to announce that an additional 80 names have been added to the line-up of 62 authors announced in June.


The list includes thriller specialist Linwood Barclay, lauded fiction writer Justin Cartwright, 2013 Man Booker Prize-longlisted authors Eleanor Catton and Colum McCann, Toronto Poet Laureate George Elliott Clarke, literary legend Margaret Drabble, debut graphic novelist Isabel Greenberg, Pulitzer Prize for Fiction winner Paul Harding, former Liberal Party Leader Michael Ignatieff, celebrated fantasy author Guy Gavriel Kay, Man Booker Prize winner Yann Martel, well-known political commentator Steve Paikin, 2013 Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction winner Andrew Preston, acclaimed journalist Eric Schlosser and New York Times-bestselling author Meg Wolitzer.

With hosts, moderators and interviewers, this brings the total number of participants to 192.

All tickets are subject to availability. Events take place at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre: 207 & 235 Queens Quay West. Tickets to most events are $18/$15 Supporters and free for students and youth under the age of 25 (subject to availability). Some exceptions apply (please refer to individual event listings). The public may purchase tickets through the Harbourfront Centre Box Office at 416-973-4000 or online at ifoa.org

IFOA Supporter levels:
Supporter
With a $57 one-year subscription or a $96 two-year subscription (HST included), you receive free admission to regular weekly readings, discounts on tickets to special events, a minimum discount of 10% for ticketed events at the Festival (certain exceptions apply) and special offers and promotions.
Patron
To help support author travel and innovative youth programming and be eligible for special promotional offers like the IFOA pre-sale, you may wish to consider becoming a Patron with a $500 annual contribution (HST included).
Patron+
To support IFOA's broad range of programming and benefit from behind-the-scenes IFOA experiences, please consider becoming a Patron+ with an annual contribution of $1,000/individual or $1,500/couple (HST included).
Donations
IFOA welcomes your support in maintaining the calibre of talent it brings to you. All donations of $25 and over are automatically issued a tax receipt.

Since its inception in 1974, IFOA has hosted over 8,000 authors from more than 100 countries, including 20 Nobel Laureates. IFOA’s season runs from September to June and includes the annual International Festival of Authors (October 24–November 3, 2013), including YoungIFOA and IFOA Ontario, and the annual ALOUD: a Celebration for Young Readers with Forest of Reading® Festival of Trees™ (May 14–15, 2014).
