Orillia Beatles' Celebration gets back on Sept. 20, 21

Beatles fans will have much to celebrate when the 7th annual Orillia Beatles Celebration returns for two jam-packed days honouring the Fab Four in downtown Orillia.

As usual the entire downtown will be closed to allow for vendors, buskers, street performers food stations and tribute bands.

All vendors and participants are Beatles and/or British themed.  There will be street dances Friday and Saturday night featuring top notch Beatles tribute bands and a beer garden.

The Argues, Aaron Reid, The Kings of Marigold, Across the Universe and The British Invasion are just some of the bands that will rock Orillia on Friday and Saturday night.

Specialty programming at the Orillia Opera House will include  'Beatlemania Revisited', a new Canadian-based international touring show which recreates the look, sound and excitement of the fab four's live performances.

This unique musical and theatrical event features a combination of talented European and North American cast members in the roles of John, Paul, George and Ringo.

Beatlemania Revisited is a family oriented, audience-interactive performance that will have fans laughing, singing, dancing and clapping along throughout the show.

Musically, the show features 'note-for-note' song recreations by the amazing cast who are further augmented with fullcostumes along with vintage instruments and equipment.

The show kicks off with their electrifying first appearance on the Ed Sullivan television show in February 1964, taking the audience through five years of the Beatles’ era, concluding with their famous January 1969 ‘roof top’ concert.

Along the way, the show will feature a total of 35 songs, including 'I Want To Hold Your Hand', 'Ticket to Ride','Yesterday'. 'Penny Lane, 'Hey Jude', ‘Something’, ‘Let It Be’ and many other timeless favourites.

There are several street stages spread throughout the event which include 'The Up and Coming" Showcase  that is for musicians 16 and under. Audiences can thrill to the talents and advanced musicianship of ‘The Stink Beatles’, the youngest Beatles tribute band in the world.

At the Orillia Museum of Art and History, enjoy free screenings of the recently re-mastered and acclaimed “Rockshow” featuring Paul McCartney and Wings during their Wings Over America Tour from 1976.
