Warm up and chill out at the Spring Cottage Life Show in Mississauga (Toronto)

(News Release)

Toronto, Ontario – While many Ontarians are in hibernation-mode, cottagers will soon be warming up for another season at the lake. The Spring Cottage Life Show returns March 27-29, 2015 to The International Centre in Mississauga.

Armed with shopping and to-do lists, more than 33,000 cottagers will attend the Spring Cottage Life Show, making it the world’s largest cottage show. Created for cottagers, by cottagers, you’ll find more than 550 exhibitors, plus exciting and informative feature areas and seminars.

More than 550 Exhibitors
Colourful Muskoka chairs
You can explore everything a cottager could ever need or want. Boats, docks, decks, water toys, and paddle sports abound.
Find endless décor options, indoor and outdoor furniture, art and gifts. Building a retreat? Talk to hundreds of experts in cottage building and renovations, timber framing, log-cabin building, plus discover unique products and services for waterfront and rural properties like septic systems, water treatment, off-grid and green energy solutions, and internet services so you can get away from it all without leaving the city behind.

The Model Cottage as Artist’s Retreat
This year’s model cottage is a modern take on cottage style. Step inside this open-concept two bedroom space, and marvel at the floor to ceiling windows and clean design lines. Built by Canada Builds, this particular model cottage is being factory-built this winter and its summer location is already planned. After the Spring Cottage Life Show, and after the thaw, this model will be installed on an island near
Honey Harbour on Georgian Bay. The new owners, visual artist John Visser and his partner David Hopper have been involved in every step of the process. The model cottage will feature some of John’s
stunning landscape paintings, along with furniture and accessories from show exhibitors, with interior styling done by Angela Jones of Lakeshore Designs, Peterborough, ON.

The Ultimate Cottage Garage
Whether it’s your boathouse, toolshed, workshop or any outbuilding at the cottage, smart storage is as much a priority as good food, decent weather and lots of R&R. Who wants to spend time looking for a paddle and a PFD when you just want to get out on the water?  Gladiator® GarageWorks is coming to the rescue with their Ultimate Cottage Garage display. Check out their innovative storage solutions,
and while at the Show, enter to win a $10,000 dream Gladiator® GarageWorks space.  Visit

Just for Kids
There’s plenty for kids and families to enjoy at the show. In the Family Activity Centre, families will enjoy nature-themed crafts and our Coleman camping zone.
Learning how to fish
In partnership with the fun folks at Camp Mini-Yo-We, there’s two hours of free child minding for kids aged 2 – 12. The Tree Planting Zone sponsored by OFF! lets kids select and prepare a white spruce seedling to take home and plant. Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry has a display featuring fish tanks, a casting simulator, nature-themed activities, and free takeaway Fire Safety colouring books and pencils. Other fun things for kids to do: watch Wayne Lennox build a kid-sized picnic table in the Cottage Workshop, taste summertime flavours in the Cottage Kitchen, and meet the cottage critters in the Cottage Wildlife Centre.

Colin & Justin’s Cabin Pressure
Colin & Justin, the Scottish design duo, well-known for their larger-than-life-personalities, will be at the Spring Cottage Life Show’s Main Stage on Saturday, March 28. The lads are undertaking a new cottage reno project on Season 2 of Colin & Justin’s Cabin Pressure which premieres on Cottage Life television channel, Sunday, March 22 at 9:00 p.m.

Brojects - Don’t try this at home!?
Kevin and Andrew Buckles are two ordinary brothers from Nova Scotia, and every time they get together at the cottage, they come up with some crazy building project. Their escapades are captured in

Brojects, an original series on Cottage Life television channel, and their behind-the- scenes stories will be shared at the Spring Cottage Life Show on the Main Stage, Friday through Sunday.  Some of their
noteworthy projects include a floating hot-tub, complete with outboard motor, and the “Chair-Ski” - a chair and waterski combo for those who want to sit back and take it all in while blasting around the lake. Safe and sound? Maybe not, hence the warning at the beginning of each episode that they are “not professional builders, and viewer discretion is advised.” Season 2 of Brojects premieres Thursday, March 26 at 9:00 p.m. on the Cottage Life channel.

What’s For Sale?
Rob Serediuk, realtor and host of What’s For Sale?, a house-hunting show set in cottage country, will lead his lively Cottage Real Estate Quiz Show in a daily presentation on the Main Stage. What’s For Sale? premieres on Tuesday, March 24 at 9:30 p.m. on the Cottage Life channel.

Real estate shopping without leaving the city
Whether you’re looking for land for a new build, a turnkey cottage, or a cozy cabin ready to renovate, the Scotiabank Cottage Real Estate Centre is where cottagers-to-be can meet with more than 100 realtors from all over Ontario’s cottage country. The experts from Scotiabank will also be on hand to answer questions about cottage financing. It’s the only opportunity of the year to comparison shop thousands of listings without leaving the city.

Cook Your Catch
It’s fun to go fishing at the cottage, but sometimes it’s a challenge to know how to turn the haul into a beautiful dinner. Live in the Cottage Kitchen, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry will be demonstrating how to cook your catch in a variety of tasty recipes. Also on our cooking stage, Broil King presents Chef Naz Cavallaro, known to his friends as BBQ Naz, who will share his grilling tips so you can get the most out of your barbecue or smoker.

Weekend Collection line of furniture, food, candles and décor, and get your photo taken on the cover of Cottage Life magazine. Plus, we’re giving out free samples of Kawartha Dairy ice cream!
