Disney On Ice glides into Toronto for the holidays; Monster Jam roars

   Disney princess fans will be excited to learn that a new wintry ice show featuring sisters Anna and Elsa and the hilarious snowman Olaf glide into Toronto over the holidays.
   Not one, two or three but eight Disney princesses – Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Tiana, Jasmine, Aurora and Snow White – embark on “incredible adventures, determined to make their dreams come true.”

    The tales of these most courageous leading ladies are told through artistic skating and acrobatics in Disney On Ice’s Dream Big at the Rogers Centre from Dec. 23 to Jan. 1 for 15 performances.
   It features “high-flying jumps, daring acrobatics, breathtaking skating and lovable Disney friends,” making this an unforgettable family show, said publicist Beth Merrick.
   Produced by Feld Entertainment, the audience will “experience the sisterly love that has captivated millions as Disney’s Frozen is brought to life on the icy stage,” she added.

   Merrick explains how the story goes:
   Through enchanted pixie-dust, Tinker Bell takes audiences on a journey of beloved Disney tales.
   Make a splash with the fearless dreamer Ariel as she yearns to explore life above the waves.
   Watch Rapunzel, Cinderella and Belle as they learn about the power to make their own magic.
   Travel to the wintry world of Arendelle with Anna and Elsa and snowman Olaf “as they learn that true love is the greatest magic of all.”
Anna meets up with the hilarious snowman Olaf in Dream Big.
   Be there to discover a whole new world with the daring Jasmine and join Snow White, Aurora and Tiana as they remind everyone that strength and kindness go hand-in-hand.
   Performance dates and times are Dec. 23, 7 p.m.; Dec. 24, 4 p.m.; Dec. 25, 4 p.m.; Dec. 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30, noon and 4 p.m.; Dec. 31, noon; and Jan. 1, 4 p.m.

   London, Hamilton ice shows
   Other Disney On Ice performances of Follow Your Heart are coming to London and Passport to Adventure will be in Hamilton, both in March.
   London’s six shows are at Budweiser Gardens from March 2 to 5 while Hamilton’s nine performances are from March 16 to 19 at FirstOntario Centre.
   Follow Your Heart features the princesses as well as characters from Disney-Pixar’s Finding Dory and Inside Out, Mickey Mouse, Minnie and the Disney friends.
   Passport to Adventure has the audience joining Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Daisy on a journey to the timeless worlds of Disney’s The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan and Disney’s Frozen.

   In a jam
   Feld Entertainment roars back in January when Monster Jam rides into the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
   Called “the most adrenaline charged motorsports experience for families on the planet,” Monster Jam trucks fly through the air on Jan. 28 and 29.

   These custom-designed trucks are about 3.6 by 3.6 metres (12 feet by12 feet) with the cab sitting atop 20-metre (66-inch) tall tires and weighing a minimum of 4,535 kilograms (10,000 pounds).
   Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, Monster Jam trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 160 k/ph.
   The trucks can fly up to 39.6 metres (130 feet) in distance and up to 10.6 metres (35 feet) in the air.
   Fan favourite trucks and drivers include Barbarian (Devin Jones); Grave Digger (Dennis Anderson); Jester (Matt Pagliarulo); Monster Energy (Coty Saucier); Rage (Cory Rummel); Son-Uva Digger (Ryan Anderson); Team Hot Wheels (Scott Buetow); and Xtermigator (JR McNeal.

   Pit parties take place on both days before the shows allowing fans to check out the trucks and meet the drivers.
