Stratford, ON (December 9, 2016) For eight consecutive years, Rant Maggie Rant’s fans and friends have reunited in Stratford to celebrate the holiday season. This year’s Frost & Fire: A Celtic Christmas Celebration! concert will be held at Stratford’s Revival House. Concert time 8:00 pm on December 16, 2016.

“The show is a seasonal celebration of music, as well as a gathering place for friends, family and loved ones,” said Glen Dias, the band’s lead vocalist. “We realized that Frost & Fire has evolved into more of a community experience now.”

Rant Maggie Rant will be entertaining the audience with their distinctive rootsy Christmas tunes, ancient and traditional Celtic melodies, blazing jigs and reels, lesser known seasonal fare and new material from their recently released CD Latitude.

Based in Stratford, Ontario, Rant Maggie Rant showcases the talents of Lindsay Schindler (fiddle, background vocals) who also performs with the acclaimed Ontario folk trio Trent Severn; Glen Dias (lead vocals, recorders, percussion); and Barry James Payne (guitars, harmonica, bouzouki, background vocals). Joining them will be guest musicians Steve Clark (bass) and Rob Larose (percussion), who both hail from London, Ontario, as well as Stratford’s Rosanna Vito (harp) and Toronto’s Daev Clysdale (Irish whistle, Irish flute and accordion).

A joyful melting pot of sound, Rant Maggie Rant is loved by traditionalists who enjoy their time-honoured style, while new Celtic music listeners are drawn to the band's fusion of World influences of hand drumming and Latin, Middle Eastern and African rhythms.

The energetic ensemble recently performed a string of concerts in Alberta. It has also performed on Canada’s east and west coasts and central USA, as well as more than 150 shows in almost every corner of Ontario. Their 2015 Canadian concert dates included a sold-out performance at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, and performances at the Folk Alliance International Showcases in Kansas City, MO and the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance Conference in Kerhonkson, NY.

In 2014, they performed at London, Ontario’s Home County Music Festival, where they shared the stage with Ashley MacIsaac, The Bills and The Beauties; Stratford’s Knox Church with internationally-renowned musician Loreena McKennitt and Trent Severn, as well as the Windsor Symphony Orchestra.
The band has released four CDs to date: Latitude (2016), Rant Maggie Rant (2013), Frost & Fire: A Celtic Christmas Celebration (2011) and World’s Edge (2009).

Want to make your night even better? Come early to the show to enjoy a pre-show dinner brought to you by Revival House. The restaurant is one of Stratford’s most iconic buildings. A former Baptist church-turned-fine dining restaurant, Revival House is co-owned and operated by Stratford native Rob Wigan and his wife Candice Wigan.

The 1,676-square-metre property was gutted in the spring of 2014 and its majestic interior transformed into a “smart casual” restaurant and lounge with an expansive kitchen that embraces the local farm to table concept. Revival House was recently featured in enRoute, Air Canada’s inflight travel magazine
