Seneca Niagara Casino revamping balcony area for younger patrons

The Mezz opens December 26 to adults 18 and older

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – With the $26 million renovation of its main gaming floor nearly complete, officials at Seneca Niagara Casino are now focusing on a new presentation that will offer gaming and entertainment excitement to a new group of potential customers.

Starting Dec. 26, 2013, the balcony area overlooking the main gaming floor will open to customers 18 years of age and older.

Dubbed “The Mezz,” the area will continue to offer a wide selection of the latest and most popular slot machine offerings, just as it has for most of the casino’s 11-year history. In order to accommodate younger guests, the area is being walled off so those entering and leaving the area will be required to show identification. No alcohol service will be provided in The Mezz.

“The balcony has been a very popular gaming area since we opened and patrons enjoy not only the games that are offered, but also the location overlooking the gaming floor,” said Cathy Walker, president and CEO, Seneca Gaming Corporation.

“The Mezz gives us a unique, controlled location by which to introduce younger customers to all of the excitement available at Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel and, in our opinion, a more rewarding entertainment experience than what they are accustomed to at other regional gaming venues.”

New guests in the 18 to 20 age-range will be allowed to sign up for a Seneca Player’s Club card and will be eligible to receive limited rewards. Seneca Gaming Corporation officials expect The Mezz to be most popular during evening and weekend hours.

“Creating a new environment in The Mezz is a continuation of the transformation that has been felt throughout the resort, most notably with our beautiful new casino,” said Jim Wise, senior vice president of marketing, Seneca Gaming Corporation.

“Our existing guests will continue to enjoy The Mezz for its location – with its access to Thunder Falls Buffet and our self-park garage – and will continue to enjoy that part of our property just as they always have. At the same time, younger customers, who are more apt to come out in the evenings and on weekends, can now add the region’s premier gaming venue to their list of entertainment options.”

“Seneca Niagara Casino has been establishing new levels of excitement and luxury in Western New York since we opened our doors,” added Kevin W. Seneca, chairman of the Seneca Gaming Corporation Board of Directors. “Our vibrant new gaming floor and The Mezz are our latest efforts to further establish Seneca Niagara as one of the premier resort destinations in the northeast United States.”
