Celebrating International Polar Bear Day at the Toronto Zoo



The Toronto Zoo in celebrating International Polar Bear Day, Feb. 27, by "Bundling Up For Polar Bears"! The Zoo’s "Bundle Up For Polar Bears" initiative is where we invite families, individuals, schools and businesses to join the Zoo in bundling up by putting on your favourite sweater, hoodie, or jacket and turning down your thermostat by two degrees this week

The Toronto Zoo has so much to offer, including six warm tropical pavilions full of exotic animals at every turn, daily keeper talks and 10 km of scenic trails. The Toronto Zoo is open 364 days a year and is the destination for winter adventure! PLUS visit Horticulture's Orchid Extravaganza in the Malayan Woods Pavilion! Spring is in the air!

 The Toronto Zoo needs YOUR help in naming our male polar bear cub!
Voting closes on Monday, March 3, 2014 at noon.
 
Toronto Zoo Staff have selected their top six names, and you get to vote for your favorite and help name Hudson's little brother. Once the votes have been tallied, the cub's official new name will be announced in early March.

When making plans this March Break don't forget to visit the world famous Toronto Zoo, and visit our new baby polar bear cub! On hand for the fun will be our partner Parks Canada who will be heading up a special March Break Activity Centre where you can get one of four Species at Risk temporary tattoos, including the polar bear. Find out how the Toronto Zoo works with Parks Canada to help save many native Canadian species, and how you can contribute to the protection and recovery of these animals and their habitats. Plus you can visit Toronto's favourite giant panda pair, Er Shun and Da Mao, as they enjoy their first ever Canadian March Break, and our adorable gorilla baby and mom Ngozi.
 
Monday, March 10 to Friday, March 14
9:00am - 3:30pm
AGES: 4 to 10
COST (per person)*: $260 Zoo Member, $280 Non-Member
Take a break from the school year and hang out at the Zoo for the week. Come visit our 5000 animals and find out what they are up to during the winter months. What happens with the animals when the snow falls and the temperature drops? March Break at the Zoo aims to deliver an action filled week exploring the entire Zoo including some areas of the Zoo not open to the general public.
Your child will receive a full week of guided activities, learning experiences, and a unique behind-the-scenes tour and/or special animal encounter. March Break at the Zoo will be very similar to a week during Zoo Camp in the summertime, just a little more snowy.
