It's time to get out your Halloween
costumes and head out to the Toronto Zoo! All kids are eligible to take
part in our "Critters and Costumes Parade" at 11:40 am and 2:40 pm
daily, departing from the Waterside Theatre. Also on hand for the Boo
fun is My Little Pony who will be at the Zoo's Courtyard Stage for meet
and greets from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm (first come first served). Kids can
also drop by the Play-Doh Play Centre next to the Courtyard Stage to
create their very own Zoo animal or Halloween creation. Plus, the Jelly
Belly Team will share Jelly Belly beans with families upon exit (while
supplies last)! Best of all, up to two kids in costume (12 and under)
get in FREE when accompanied by an adult.
Keeper talks, pumpkins and animals oh my! Check out Zoo animals receiving enrichment pumpkins throughout the day!

Tricksters and charlatans have honed their abilities to become experts in camouflage, misleading and distraction. Indeed, to survive, many plants and animals play their part in nature's great masquerade. Bring your best mask and join us for an illusionary evening of as we explore this world at our very own animal inspired masquerade party!

Join us as the sun goes down on the Zoo
for an exciting evening of wolves! Through a short presentation learn
more about the unique characteristics of these creatures, how they get
their "special positions" in a pack and how they communicate through
howling. Then join us for a moonlight hike to their home in Tundra Trek
and attempt to "communicate" with our wolves. This night will leave you
howling with excitement!
The program includes a presentation and special evening tour to meet our wolf pack.

Reproductive Programs and Research, Gabriela Mastromonaco, recently

Massasauga Rattlesnake Rescue!
The veterinarians and keepers in the Wildlife Health Centre are currently caring for a severely injured female Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake from Killbear Provincial Park. This wild snake, named Robin, had been monitored by Killbear staff since 2005 who noticed this year that she was unable to move the lower half of her body. After Toronto Zoo veterinarians assessed her, it was determined she suffered trauma to her spine likely caused by being run over by a bicycle. While x-rays indicated her spinal column was broken, she currently still retains some limited ability to move. Zoo staff will continue to offer supporting treatment and monitor her closely in the Wildlife Health Centre these next few months, in hopes she might regain more use of the back of her body. Although she will never be mobile enough to survive in the wild, we are hopeful she will recover enough to live a productive life here at the Toronto Zoo and join the Species Survival Plan for this threatened species.

October 17 - October 31 come and see a sweet Giant Panda portrait in the
Zoo's Panda Interpretive Centre made out of none other than.... 11,000
Jelly Belly jelly beans! This cuddly bear is munching on a bamboo stick
made of Lime, Green Apple and Watermelon Jelly Belly jelly beans. Our
Giant Panda comes to life with Coconut, Cream Soda, Liquorice and Plum
Jelly Belly beans. The creation of the portrait was broadcast live on
the internet from the Jelly Belly Visitor Centre in California to
celebrate National Jelly Bean Day 2014 with fans around the world.

invited to join in remembering and honouring the many wartime sacrifices
that Canadians have made for their country. Admission for veterans and
all guests attending the ceremony is free from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. The
year round parking fee will be in effect except for VIP's, Veterans in
uniform or with medals, crests or other military affiliation insignia,
as well as any other persons in uniform, including serving members of
the armed forces, police, fire, ambulance and TTC.
