Things to do with Mom for her day in May
(News Release)
WATERLOO, Ont. — Mom always deserves to be spoiled, but she should get some extra special attention every Mother’s Day.
One
of the best ways to help Mom enjoy Mother’s Day is to take the planning
out of her hands. Put in a little time to create a Mother’s Day
itinerary for your Mom in Waterloo Region — and even better work in some
quality time you can spend together.
“Sometimes
the best gift you can give Mom is the time you spend together,” says
Minto Schneider, Chief Executive Officer of Waterloo Region Tourism.
“There are so many places to go and experiences to have in Waterloo
Region that will allow you and Mom to have a day she’ll remember for a
long time.”
For
a truly decadent experience, head to Langdon Hall in Cambridge. The
Country House Hotel and Spa has accommodations plus a spa for Mom to
relax. They also offer an impressive afternoon tea every weekend.
Relaxing
spa options are plentiful across the region, but if you’re looking for
one with a little something extra, try Uptown Beauty Lounge in Waterloo.
The upscale spa has all the services you want and need — plus it’s
licensed. A manicure with a glass of wine is sure to help Mom unwind.
No
day out with Mom is complete without a little retail therapy. Conestoga
Mall in Waterloo and Cambridge Centre in Cambridge both offer many
stores in a convenient location. For a more boutique shopping
experience, head to the Village of St. Jacobs and explore the many shops
on the main street.
For
the fashionista, a stop at the Fashion History Museum in Cambridge is a
must. A low admission fee allows you the chance to see 101 Tales of
Fashion, a collection of fashion stories and gossip from the last
century.
If
Mom enjoys culture and arts, make sure to head to the Canadian Clay and
Glass Gallery in Uptown Waterloo. Take in stunning pieces of art and
enjoy the current exhibition all for free.
Enjoy the theatre experience at the St. Jacob’s Country Playhouse as they put on a production of West Side Story from May 9th to June 2nd. Or check out the latest indie flick at Princess Cinemas in Waterloo.
The
Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory is a great place for Moms of little
ones to visit. Everyone can enjoy seeing thousands of butterflies,
plants and other wildlife in the 10,000-square-foot tropical garden.
A
big day will make anyone hungry. If you’re after small plates and
cocktails, Taste at the Tannery and Public Kitchen & Bar, both in
downtown Kitchener, are perfect choices. Uptown Waterloo is also home to
many restaurants. Harmony Lunch has been around since 1930 and is ideal
if you’re craving a homestyle meal. Marbles is a great pick if you want
a delicious and casual dining experience. Check out their brunch if
you’re in Waterloo on a weekend. Wildcraft Grill and Bar in Waterloo
offers a casual atmosphere as well. Make sure you save room for dessert –
they have a long list of mouthwatering options to choose from.
