FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE (May 2, 2013)
ORILLIA -
The City of Orillia Parks, Recreation and Culture Department released
its annual Summer Made Fun guides on Thursday to help residents and families
get fit, have fun and plan their weekend activities in the area for the whole
summer – all for good value.
New to the guide this summer is the culture
section, found under What’s Happening, which highlights most of the events
happening in the city and the area throughout the whole summer.
From summer
theatre, to the Leacock literary festival or the anticipated Doors Open Orillia
May 25 and 26, this guide will be invaluable throughout the entire season for
residents looking for something to do.
There are a host of new and returning
programs for preschoolers, children, adults, parent/child and seniors.
Returning this summer is summer skating, public skates, band concerts in the
park and the popular lifeguard club the Orillia Torpedoes.
Director of Parks Recreation and Culture
Ray Merkley says, “This is the twenty second year we have put together this
program guide and every year there are more camps and activities than the year
before. “
Some of the new camps this year are as fun
and varied as Cake Boss, Art Attack and So I Think I Can Dance. There are also
many opportunities for swimming lessons for both adults and children and the
opportunity for youth to register in a
new program called Lifesaving Sport.
