Birtch Farms & Estate Winery's Apple Festival, Local Flavours and Pumpkin Fest events


MEDIA RELEASE – For Immediate Release August 31, 2012

Woodstock, ON – Many festivals, events, and fun things are happening at the Birtch Farms & Estate
Winery this fall, just north of Woodstock during the months of September & October.

“This has definitely been challenging this year!” Dyann Birtch, co-owner/operator commented. “We
were fortunate to be able to get apples from another Ontario supplier. So our “Apple Festival” is a go!
And we have apples for our fall season along with lots of new family fun activities along with the
Bakery, Winery and Playground.”

Here is what’s happening this fall is:
The 20th Apple Festival – Sept 15 – 16 from 10am – 5pm
Horse drawn wagon rides, displays, apple treats, lunch and live music will add to the festivities this
year. Farmer Bob’s Barnyard Adventure has returned this year. And yes there are apples to buy!

Local Flavours – Sept 30 from 12 noon – 4 pm
This Food & Wine festival is to celebrate with “tastes” of local food, created specially by local chefs,
chef producers and foodies to be paired with Birtch Farms wines.

Pumpkin Fest – Oct 20 – 21 from 10am – 5pm
This weekend is full of activities including pumpkin games, pumpkin treats, a pumpkin gallery of carved
pumpkins and a costume contest.

Orchard Afternoons for Book Lovers – Sept 8, 19, 23, Oct 13 from 2pm – 4pm
This is in celebration of the Queens Diamond Jubilee with High Tea. The Oxford County Library is cohost.
Advanced tickets are available at the Oxford County Library, Ingersoll and at the farm.

Canning Workshop with Emerie Brine (Bernardin) – Oct 15 from 1pm – 4pm
This is a hands on workshop that will involve 3 recipes and take home treats. Pre-registration is at the
farm.

Directions: From Highway # 401 take exit # 230 onto Mill St., continue north and turn right onto
Dundas St. to the top of the hill and turn left onto Vansittart Ave. Drive north out of the city to the traffic
circle and enter to the right and take the 1st exit onto County Road # 17. Continue and turn left onto
15th Line and follow the signs.
