Bowling for Rhinos and mid-July events at the Toronto Zoo

COME OUT AND BOWL A STRIKE IN SUPPORT OF RHINOS!

You're invited to join us at the Indian Rhino Outdoor Exhibit, for Toronto Zoo's holds its 
annual Bowling for Rhinos Event in support of rhino conservation. For a small donation you
 can compete against other zoo visitors in a Wii bowling tournament for a chance to win zoo-rific
 prizes and help to raise funds for this endangered animal. This event will not only raise 
much-needed funds for rhino conservation but it will also serve to educate our visitors on 
the critical issue of poaching of rhinos for their horns.

In support of National Zoo Keeper Week, Toronto City Council has proclaimed Sunday, July 21 through Friday, July 26, 2013 as "Zoo Keeper Week" in the City of Toronto! The Toronto Zoo, your local Southern Ontario Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers, is proud to invite you to a week long event celebrating National Zoo Keeper Week. This event will offer rare insight into the unique roles the Zoo Keeper plays within the Toronto Zoo. Come on out and catch a surprise Meet The Keeper Talk, see the tools of the trade, learn about keeper conservation initiatives, and meet some of the WILD animals. Also, be sure to watch the crazy antics of zoo staff at 12:00pm to 1:00pm, daily, as they compete in special games that mimic zoo keeping work.

Tradition and contemporary visual artists and performers will transform the African Savanna landscape of the Zoo. Akan Youth Drummer will be performing authentic African Drumming in the African Savanna Trail, Tembo Market across from the elephants.

CUTE ALERT:
Our Ring-tailed lemur family welcomes five new babies to moms Lily (twins, 1 male & 1 female), Ruby (1 female) and Lucy (twins, sexes unknown) Zoo staff will confirm as soon as they know. The babies have not been given names as of yet. With each passing day the babies are becoming more aware of their surroundings and will soon begin to leave Mom for short periods to play and investigate the world. Visit our African Rainforest Pavilion for your chance to spot our newest and cutest additions!
