Woodstock's StreetFest coming from Aug. 8-11
Woodstock, ON- The Downtown Woodstock Business Improvement Area proudly presents Summer StreetFest, the Ultimate Annual 4-Day Street Festival, August 8th to 11th in Downtown Woodstock!
During the festival Dundas Street will be closed to vehicular traffic and the streets will open to musicians, street performers, outdoor cafes, arts and crafts, BBQs, shopping, inflatables and much more!
This year, Museum Square will be host to the sounds of some of StreetFest’s most loyal musical groups, as well as some new talent that is sure to please.
“We have over 30 acts booked this year...including jazz, funk, rock, country, Peruvian, R&B...a bit of most popular genres you would expect to hear at a festival,” says Kelly Morrison, Downtown Woodstock BIA Manager.
“The festival also features top-notch variety acts such as Kobbler Jay, the eccentric Juggler and Pyromeo, a circus and fire performer.”
Throughout the weekend festival-goers will be able to catch performances on the Museum Square Main Stage, as well as Street Stages near the Charles Dickens Pub and Crabby Joe’s.
Since the Downtown Woodstock BIA was founded in 1976, the BIA has held Sidewalk Sales, now referred to as Summer StreetFest.
“With more entertainment, more amusements, more community involvement, and more participation than ever before, StreetFest is more than just a sale, it’s a celebration,” says Kelly Morrison, Manager of Downtown Woodstock BIA.
The Downtown Farmers’ Market will remain open on Thursday with a slight shift of location to the Church of Epiphany. As Museum Square hosts artisans and musical entertainment.
Friday morning will once again be dedicated to the Children. The Museum Square Main Stage will open with an interactive storytelling, followed by Erick Traplin with his musical act for kids, and dance performances by local dance schools. Friday night you won’t want to miss Dirty Little Secret on the Street! Dirty Little Secret won the Battle of the Bands and will be playing at Rock the Park. Rock the Park features bands such as Styx, Toto, Journey, and many more!
Saturday evening Downtown Woodstock will be flooded with hot bikes and the sounds of cool blues for Woodstock Bikes & Blues. Bikers will park on the street, mingle, eat, and show off their rides while listening to the first-class blues performances on the OLG Main Stage. Performers include Tim Tyler Band, Douglas Watson, James Anthony, Chris Murphy, and two-time Juno Award Winner Jack de Keyzer! On top of his two Juno awards de Keyzer has won 7 Maple Blues Awards, and in 2007 won first place in the International Songwriter’s Competition.
Street tent entertainment will include “rockin’ blues” by The Seaside Attorneys, Blue Room, The Tutwiler Blues Train, and Barefoot Boogie Band. “The inaugural Woodstock Bikes & Blues promises to be a great time...and there's lots of blues and barbeque to go around!”
Sunday is the Annual StreetFest Cruise for the South Gate Centre. The Cruise will run from 9am until 3pm, with FREE Registration for all cars, trucks and motorcycles. Donations to the South Gate Centre are welcome! Moovin’ Groovin’ and Verhoeven will be performing live on the OLG Main Stage. The Cruise will also feature a delicious beef BBQ, door prizes, and a 50/50 draw.
“This event continues to grow each year; appealing to more people with the variety of entertainment, vendors and diversity of activity going on. We are very thankful for the continued support of the tradition of StreetFest by the community. It all promises to be a great time, with great food, great music, and great downtown retailers. We can’t wait to welcome you to this year’s even bigger Summer StreetFest.”
