KITCHENER, Ont. – You’ve watched
the TV shows and movies and outrunning a horde of zombies sounds like a
piece of cake – so here’s your chance to prove it!
The Running Dead, a 4km survival race,
is returning once again to Bingemans in Kitchener, Ont. on September 29.
This fun race is designed to test runners’ endurance by pitting them
against more than 100 zombies
on the hunt for souls.
“The Running Dead is a true test of a
person’s endurance because you’re not just challenged by the course, but
also by the live zombies chasing you around,” said Mark Bingeman,
President of Bingemans.
“The course
itself winds through 175 acres and has everything that endurance racers
could expect with a few surprises thrown in. If you’re looking for a
real challenge, or just a fun event to join with friends, the Running
Dead has something for all skill levels.”
The hordes of zombies will chase the
participants in an attempt to grab the flags hanging from their belts.
Once all of the flags (representing the runner’s souls) are gone, the
runner has lost the fight but can
still complete the race.
Situated along the Grand River, the
course covers 175 acres of Bingemans, with many unique challenging
twists thrown in such as rope crawls, rafting challenges and haunted
village areas. If you’re too chicken to
participate you can watch the spectacle from one of the many viewing
areas.
“With our Scream Park opening that
weekend, the Kingpin Bowlounge & Boston Pizza in full operation and
the Bingemans camp ground just down the hill, you can come for a weekend
of fun and camp overnight right in
the park,” said Bingeman.
The 8th season of Bingemans’ haunted
Scream Park will also be open after the run. The Scream Park features
six different haunted attractions including Ward 13, the Zombie Shooting
Gallery and more. But watch out,
the chicken count has been raised to a total of 1,115 guests who were
too frightened to finish in 2012.
