Did
you know the red panda is the original panda and was discovered almost
50 years before the giant panda? Learn all about these amazing and
endangered creatures and meet our red pandas! Don't miss a special
meet-the-keeper talk plus enrichment feeding at 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm
and bid on fun prizes in a panda-themed silent auction.
All proceeds support the Red Panda Network, an organization committed to the conservation of wild red pandas and their habitat.

Canadian
Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure launches their newest run
site at the Toronto Zoo on October 5, 2014. The first-ever Canadian
Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure at the Toronto Zoo
promises to be an exciting, powerful and unforgettable experience for
everybody involved. Runners and walkers can make a wild day of it with
over 5,000 animals, the only giant pandas in Canada, lots of zoo babies
and more!
Run participants receive 40% off zoo admission for the day! Members FREE.
The CIBC Run for the Cure is Canada's
largest single day event in support of breast cancer research, health
education and advocacy programs.This new partnership between the CIBC
Run for the Cure and Canada's premier zoo is exciting and very fitting
so, grab your runners and strollers and don't forget to sport your
finest
flamingo pink attire!
Enrichment Extravaganza
September is Hyena Enrichment Extravaganza month!
Every
Saturday at 2:00 pm in the African Savanna, come meet our Spotted
Hyenas Pinduli, Moja, and Echo! Watch these amazing dog-like carnivores
interact with their keepers and enjoy some laughs over a few tasty treats!
E-waste Collection Event In Support of Toronto Zoo PhoneApes Program

Bring your e-waste to
the Toronto Zoo on September 27th and help support great ape
conservation. This event, in support of PhoneApes and National Forestry
Week, helps to promote the importance of protecting and replanting
forests for ecosystem protection, wildlife conservation and climate
change. In particular this event directly correlates to the message of
protecting the forest habitat of great apes in our PhoneApes program.
September is also a good time of year for e-waste collection as new
students return to school many old e-waste products are being discarded.
The Toronto Zoo will be accepting Monitors, TVs, Computers, Notebooks, Servers, Wire, Aluminum, Keyboards, Mice, Electronic Scrap, Small Appliances, Laptops, Tablets and, of course, Cellphones! The collection truck will be located on the side walk near the drop-off-loop at the zoo's front entrance. All participants that drop of an e-waste item will receive a coupon for 25% off at the Zoo's gift shops.

Kids can also drop by the Play-Doh Play Centre to create their very own Zoo animal creation.
Fall Foliage Tree Tour -ONE HOUR TOURS: 12:00 pm and 2:00 pmThe bright oranges, reds and yellows of the autumnal trees remind us that fall has arrived. Join us for a one hour guided tour of the Zoo site to discover how to identify trees and learn more how trees have added value to our lives throughout history. Offered twice daily at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm, interested visitors should meet your Volunteer guide at the Wildlife Marquee as all tours depart from Wildlife Marquee (located in the Discovery Zone).

It's time to get out your Halloween
costumes and head out to the Toronto Zoo! All kids are eligible to take
part in our "Critters and Costumes Parade" at 11:40 am and 2:40 pm
daily, departing from the Waterside Theatre. Also on hand for the Boo
fun is My Little Pony who will be at the Zoo's Courtyard Stage for meet
and greets from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm (first come first served). Kids can
also drop by the Play-Doh Play Centre next to the Courtyard Stage to
create their very own Zoo animal or Halloween creation. Plus, the Jelly
Belly Team will share Jelly Belly beans with families upon exit (while
supplies last)! Best of all, up to two kids in costume (12 and under)
get in FREE when accompanied by an adult.

Artists and candy-lovers unite! From
October 17 - October 31 come and see a sweet Giant Panda portrait in the
Zoo's Panda Interpretive Centre made out of none other than.... 11,000
Jelly Belly jelly beans! This cuddly bear is munching on a bamboo stick
made of Lime, Green Apple and Watermelon Jelly Belly jelly beans. Our
Giant Panda comes to life with Coconut, Cream Soda, Liquorice and Plum
Jelly Belly beans. The creation of the portrait was broadcast live on
the internet from the Jelly Belly Visitor Centre in California to
celebrate National Jelly Bean Day 2014 with fans around the world.

Veterans and the general public are
invited to join in remembering and honouring the many wartime sacrifices
that Canadians have made for their country. Admission for veterans and
all guests attending the ceremony is free from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. The
year round parking fee will be in effect except for VIP's, Veterans in
uniform or with medals, crests or other military affiliation insignia,
as well as any other persons in uniform, including serving members of
the armed forces, police, fire, ambulance and TTC.
