Experience four-season cottaging at the Fall Cottage Life Show

Toronto:  September 14, 2015.  Whether you visit your cottage year round, or only get there during the warmer months, now is the time to start planning next year’s big projects for your retreat.

The Fall Cottage Life Show, featuring more than 200 exhibitors, happens October 23-25, 2015, at The International Centre. If you want to be ready for next spring, now is the time to start researching your new deck, ordering a new dock, planning a renovation, finalizing the budget, or doing a teardown and starting from scratch.

The show is dedicated to cottage and country home renovations, construction, building products, design, and architectural services along with the fun stuff like boats, docks, water toys, arts and decor, food and drink, furnishings for indoors and out, and finding those holiday or special gifts. Anyone who owns or dreams of owning a cottage, camp, chalet, country home, or rural retreat, or those who just like to relax in their own backyard, are welcome to come and spend some time at our cottage at the Fall Cottage Life Show.

Stratford Festival announces benefit performance of The Last Wife to raise funds for Syrian refugee crisis

September 22, 2015… The Stratford Festival is offering a unique opportunity to see the season’s hottest ticket, The Last Wife, and provide humanitarian aid to the Syrian refugee crisis that is dominating headlines.

A special benefit performance of Kate Hennig’s stunning contemporary drama The Last Wife – sold out from the beginning of its run – will be presented at the Studio Theatre on Friday, October 9, at 8 p.m.

“The Festival is blessed with a team of caring individuals,” said Executive Director Anita Gaffney. “Our artists, crew and staff wanted to help with the Syrian refugee crisis, and adding a performance of The Last Wife allows us to do what we do best – tell a compelling story at the highest level of accomplishment. At the same time, it satisfies some pent-up demand for this particular title and most importantly serves to provide some leadership on the fundraising activities unfolding in Stratford.”

Indugle yourself in some culture across Canada; Disney On Ice returns to Kingston, Ontario

   A little culture can only be a good thing, so here’s the chance to indulge.

   Culture Days, the Canada-wide annual weekend celebration, returns from Sept. 25 to 27 with activities across southern Ontario and beyond.

   The national movement has some 7,500 artists and organizations in more than 900 cities and towns.

   “They are opening their doors to the public to offer hands-on experience and/or behind-the-scenes access for free,” said Aubrey Reeves, Culture Days Ontario director.

   This year, the sixth annual Culture Days weekend coincides with Craft Year 2015, a year-long, nation-wide festival promoting craft as a key player on the Canadian cultural landscape, she added.

   There will be more than 150 craft activities across Ontario, allowing access to the public to learn about crafts from time-honoured traditions to contemporary interpretations.

   “The public will be invited into the workshops of these makers, and in many cases they will be encouraged to roll up their sleeves and try a variety of craft techniques for themselves, learning directly from accomplished artisans,” said Emma Quin, executive director of Craft Ontario.
