Niagara offers the ideal Canadian golf getaway

It’s about more than just hitting the course

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont.—Not far from the thundering waters of Niagara Falls, lush green fairways give way to carefully manicured greens. Stand in the tee box and enjoy picturesque vistas like the Niagara Gorge, the Niagara Falls skyline or quaint vineyards.
Golfing in Niagara is a golf experience unlike anywhere else in Canada, and is unique for the number of options available to the golf enthusiast as well as the length of time available to chase the little dimpled ball around the grass.

“It is well established that the golf season in Niagara is longer than it is anywhere else in Canada,” says Anthony Annunziata, Vice-President of Marketing at the Marriott Fallsview Hotel & Spa. “The Niagara Peninsula is home to more than 40 golf courses that appeal to golfers from beginners to scratch. It is the destination in Canada for a golf escape.”
Niagara offers the greatest concentration of golf courses in any single region in Canada, many of them designed by world-renowned golf course architects like Rees Jones and PGA veterans John Daly and Greg Norman.
The combination of a mild winter and wet spring has made for excellent conditions on the courses around Niagara.
“Niagara’s golf courses have been open for months already,” says Annunziata. “It may still be spring, but they are in mid-summer form. The fairways and greens are in great shape. It’s the perfect place to getaway and hit a few balls.”
Adding to the appeal is the fact that a golf escape to Niagara is so much more than just spending time on a championship golf course.
Between rounds, stop in at any of a number of Niagara wineries to sample world-class wines. The dining options in Niagara are near limitless, from casual roadhouse fare like chicken wings and burgers to restaurants offering unique chef-prepared meals made with ingredients gathered from local Niagara farms.
After a day on the links, relax before heading out to enjoy the vibrant nightlife that awaits. Clubs and bars catering to a full range of musical tastes abound, and of course there is the Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara for a memorable night out.
