Think outside the box of chocolates this Valentine’s Day

Make a real connection with your partner with these unique date night ideas

(News Release)

Valentine's Day is a time for couples who are looking for a little something different for the big day.

“For those who want to focus on the connection with their partner, Naan & Kabob has put together a list of great options for Torontonians to check out this year,” said publicist Kaley Steward of Enterprise Canada.

TORONTO, ON (February 2020) - Whether it’s the first date or the 50th, couples are always on the hunt for something different to try on date night — especially on the most romantic day of the year.

Date night should be more than grabbing a drink or watching the latest movie. While those are great options – especially during our cold winters in Ontario –an afternoon or night out where you’re really able to connect with your date is a must, whether it’s with a long-term squeeze or a new partner.

“Making time to spend with your partner is so important for a happy, healthy relationship,” says Fahim Ahmadi, Director of Operations for Naan & Kabob. “Exploring new locations or attractions is a great way to spend some quality time together while discovering hidden gems throughout the city!”

Here are a few unique date ideas to help you connect with your sweetheart during one of the coldest months of the year:

The Toronto Zoo’s Terra Lumina opened in December and has been dazzling visitors every weekend since. The futuristic light show is running until April so there is plenty of time to bundle up with your sweetheart and enjoy the light spectacular.

With the weather being so cold, it’s the perfect time to experience a traditional Afghan tearoom at Naan & Kabob. The hidden gem at their Yonge Street location allows couples and friends the opportunity to have in-depth conversations without any distractions while enjoying different tea blends.  Not your average tearoom, the vibrant and cozy space showcases décor from the middle east and creates the perfect atmosphere to spend time really getting to know your date.

This might be another excuse to snuggle close to your date, but outdoor skating rinks will allow for talking and laughing (especially if you haven’t been on skates in years) with bonus handholding. Evergreen Brick Works is one location that has free public skating every weekend until March plus there will be special Friday night skates up to and including Valentine’s Day.

When was the last time you visited an art gallery? The AGO has so much to offer visitors, from their permanent collection of Canadian art to rotating special exhibitions. Take the time to wander from piece to piece and talk to your date about how the artwork makes you feel or what you thought the artist was thinking as they worked on it. The gallery is making visiting even more accessible by giving free admission to everyone under 25 every day. An annual pass is just $35, or you can visit on a Wednesday night when it is free admission for everyone.

Keep in mind that all these date ideas make for great friend date ideas as well. Friendships deserve just as much effort as romantic relationships.
