FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Celebrate the tastes,
sights and sounds of Asia
TORONTO, ON (Aug.
16, 2012) Harbourfront Centre is
pleased to announce our celebration of Pan-Asian food and culture.
The Fortune Cooking Festival presented by
CIBC highlights the amazing array of culinary traditions and trends that
encompass the Asian continent, and gives audiences a taste of the culture that
surrounds them.
The Fortune Cooking Festival, held on Sunday, Sept. 16, builds on the flavours of the Vietnamese Lantern Festival, which will
be held the day before.
Witness
culinary traditions and trends that are constantly at a crossroads as they are
embraced, transformed and redefined by cultures around the world; savour a
sampling of some of the citys top restaurants, where Asian flavours have been
transformed into something local; and catch performances and crafts celebrating
and showcasing elements of Asian culture.
Full
event listings are attached. Highlights of Fortune
Cooking Festival include:
- A Saturday-night (Sept 15) screening of the documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi to lead into the festival;
- In the ever-popular Iron Chef Competition, local chefs specialising in Asian cuisine face off in a battle to creatively employ the secret ingredient;
