Hammer Town Comic Con Comes to Hamilton this October

Back to the Future Cast Members, Star Trek Actors the first of many celebrity announcements

Hamilton, ON – Fans of comic books, pop culture, movies and television will be happy to learn that a Comic Con is coming to the Steel City.  Officially titled Hammer Town Comic Con, the event will take place at the Hamilton Convention Centre on Saturday, October 5th.

“After doing some location research for a Comic Con in Southern Ontario, I was really surprised that Hamilton didn’t have one of its own,” said Chris Dabrowski, Owner and Show Manager for the October event.

“There’s definitely preliminary interest from the public, and with the line up of celebrities we have secured, there will be something for everyone’s taste,” he added.

Dabrowski is no strangers to Comic Cons, he is also the Show Manager and co-owner of Niagara Falls Comic Con, which recently drew 15,000 people plus to the Scotiabank Convention Centre.  That event first launched in 2010 and has grown significantly in size in just three years.

“The goal of this year’s event is to bring something new to the Hamilton area, and provide people with an opportunity to meet some of their favourite pop culture celebrities in an intimate environment, while enjoying a laid back and fun atmosphere.  Hamilton is a great place to visit,” added Dabrowski.

Confirmed celebrities thus far include:  Claudie Wells, who portrayed Jennifer Parer in the first Back to the Future movie; Donald Fullilove, Mayor Goldie Wilson from back to the Future; James Tolkan, who played Principal Strickland in Back to the Future; David Yost, the Original Blue Power Ranger; Armin Shimerman, Quark, Star Trek Deep Space Nine and Robert Picardo, who played the Hologram Doctor on Star Trek Voyager; Pat Mastroianni from Degrassi fame and Paris Themmen who starred in the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.  A replica of the DeLorean Time Machine from Back to the Future will also be at the event.

The event will also feature a Cosplay Contest, free Q&A sessions, seminars, workshops, movie screenigns and more.

Tickets are available online at www.hammertowncomiccon.com OR at the Door at the event... Children under 10 are free.
