Five more productions open this week: two Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals, The Sound of Music and Carousel; the world première of Michael Healey’s adaptation of Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s The Physicists; an inspirational production of The Diary of Anne Frank, by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, adapted by Wendy Kesselman; and Shakespeare’s sweeping drama The Adventures of Pericles.

Two plays open next week: Oliver Goldsmith’s madcap romance She Stoops to Conquer on June 4; and Shakespeare’s boisterous comedy The Taming of the Shrew on June 5.

“All of us here at the Stratford Festival are tremendously excited about the plays opening tonight and over the next two weeks,” says Mr. Cimolino. “We can’t wait to share our work and to see the rest of the season unfold over the coming months.”
