TORONTO -- One of funk's most legendary and influential bands, Earth, Wind & Fire, will headline the TD Toronto Jazz Festival this summer.
Performing a collection of their greatest hits, Earth, Wind & Fire will play the Sony Centre on Tuesday, June 24. Tickets are on sale at the Sony Centre Box Office, through Ticketmaster or by calling 1.855.872.7669. This performance is presented by Visit Florida and the Toronto Star.
Combining soul, jazz, funk and
R&B, Earth, Wind & Fire (EWF) has spent more than four decades
influencing popular culture with hits such as Shining Star, September, That's The Way of the World and After The Love Has Gone.
Spreading the
message of universal love and harmony, EWF revolutionized a new brand of pop
during the 1970s that would transcend genres, cultures and audiences.
Led by
Philip Bailey's trademark falsetto voice, electrifying instrumentation and
arrangements would be the signature hallmarks of EWF's all-encompassing musical
vision, making them one of the tightest bands in funk at that time.
With a celebrated legacy that
includes selling more than 90 million albums worldwide, EWF is one of the most
successful and critically acclaimed bands of the twentieth century. Amassing
six Grammys over their career and inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame, their music continues to resonate a
generation after its initial release.
For
10 days in June, the TD Toronto Jazz Festival will present more than 350+
concerts across 40 locations from June 19 to 28, 2014, as half a million
music lovers unite for one of the city's largest music festivals.
Discover more than 1,500 musicians who will entertain as the sounds of jazz play throughout and
let the music be your guide this summer as we turn up the jazz.
